Established to provide quality, values-driven education in Murang’a. Over the years, we have grown into a leading institution, embracing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) to nurture well-rounded, future-ready learners. With dedicated educators, modern facilities, and a strong moral foundation, we continue to shape students into responsible leaders who positively impact society.
The Genesis
The history of our institution, a beacon of knowledge, is an inspiring tale of perseverance and dedication. Benedito Highway Complex was started in the year 2000 as a Girl’s boarding school with only 8 learners,three teachers and 2 support staffs.The first classrooms were wooden but the directors ensured they were cemented and comfortable to the learners.The learners were in class five and six.It came as self initiative by Mr and Mrs Njiiru who were the fouders of the school.The school Day-section was opened to even boys due to public demand.Edwin Njiru was the first boy to be admitted With the limited facilities,the learners registered excellent performance which made the school name to spread like bush fire.
In term two,a parent came to see the director for admission of his son as a boarder.He became the first boy to be a boarder.This brought the idea of boys boarding section and in a spur of moment,the boys boarding facility had multiplied.The school had separate boys and girl dormitories,kitchen,small wooden office with the headteacher’s office and staffroom.The director ensured that the learners were well fed and taken good care of .
The Early Days
n the early days, the school faced numerous challenges, including limited resources. However, the founders’ unwavering commitment ensured the school’s survival and gradual growth. They introduced innovative teaching methods, making education more accessible and engaging for all students in the area around and also to those who came from far.The number of classes increased and every year the learners could double.By 2003 the enrolment had grown to 290 learners having our first candidate class who were 38 in number.The learners got a mean of 303.30 which attracted others from all corners of central region.
The Transformation
All this while,the school was expanding and expanding with new enrolment every term and year.By 2009, the school had grown in both size and reputation with over 450 learners.The directors started the construction of the current 3-storey building to house classes and replace the wood classes.. The introduction of the building marked a significant milestone. This period also saw the establishment of the school’s first library, fostering a culture of independent learning and intellectual exploration.
Modernization and Expansion
The introduction of cbc brought a wave of modernization. The school embraced CBC, integrating it into the teaching-learning process. New buildings were constructed, and the sports facilities were expanded. The school also began to participate in inter-school competitions including music and drama competitions,ball games,track events, further enhancing its prestige.
Transportation
Benedito school has 3 mordern busses which ferries the learners to and from school.This busses serves a key important role as the children are picked and dropped in their homes which easies learners movement.They also facilitates education-entertainment tours to the learners.
Performance
The school has registered excellent performance in the national exam.By 2017 the school was registering a mean score of over 350 marks.This has paved ways for our learners to get admissions to National schools while others join Extra county schools.Our last KCPE class of 2023 scored a mean 0f 313.5 mark.Today Benedito remains to be the leading Institution in embracing in CBC.
The Present Day
Today, our school stands as a testament to the vision of its founders.With over 450 learners,23 teachers and 12 assisting staffs,the school continues to provide quality education, nurturing students into well-rounded individuals.The boarding section with both boys and girls from grade 2 to grade 9 remains to be the best for the learners. The school’s history is a constant reminder of the power of perseverance, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. It inspires us to carry forward this legacy into the future.
